As part of strengthening partnership with the international community and supporting the causes of vulnerable groups, the National Network for Advocating for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities participated in a special meeting with European Union ambassadors, which was dedicated to discussing the conditions of civil society in Yemen.
During the meeting, the network represented the most vulnerable groups and reviewed the most prominent risks and challenges facing associations and institutions working in the field of disabilities and marginalized groups. It stressed the importance of enabling these associations to access international support and grants fairly.
The head of the network also touched upon the support recently provided by the European Union as part of a campaign and a website established for this purpose, in addition to emphasizing the pivotal role of the state in driving change for these groups. The network announced its adoption of inclusive policies that ensure the participation of persons with disabilities and marginalized groups in shaping decisions and development programs, and working to strengthen a legislative and institutional environment that guarantees their rights and supports their full integration into society.
For his part, the European Union Ambassador, Mr. Patrick Simonnet, promised to study the allocation of a percentage of support programs for the most needy groups, affirming the Union’s keenness to discuss challenges with official authorities to facilitate the human rights and humanitarian work for these groups throughout the country.
