Who We Are
the National Network for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
The establishment of the National Network for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was an urgent humanitarian and human rights response necessitated by the current circumstances facing Yemen and the urgent need for an institutional human rights entity that can powerfully advocate for the rights of a broad segment of the most vulnerable segments of society who face marginalization and exclusion, whether due to disability, a lack of societal awareness in dealing with them, or systematic marginalization by state institutions and international communities.
The National Network for Advocating the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is a national non-profit organization founded on December 20, 2020, at the initiative of community leaders with disabilities and with the support of the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Human Rights. It serves as an inclusive institutional entity dedicated to defending the rights of more than five million persons with disabilities in Yemen.
The network operates according to the principles of justice, equality, and respect for human dignity. Through its partnerships with official bodies, civil society organizations, and international institutions, it seeks to empower persons with disabilities and fully integrate them into public life, in line with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Our Approach
Our Vision
Persons with disabilities obtain their full rights stipulated in international agreements and local laws, in order to achieve a civilized society aware of the rights of this segment of society.
Our Mission
Over the next ten years, the network seeks to enhance the capabilities of its member organizations, institutions, and persons with disabilities, positioning it among the leading Arab and international advisory institutions with a tangible presence, in accordance with the international standard classification under the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
